Weekday volunteering

A large bright room with theatre posters on the walls and several lights hanging from the ceiling. There are small tables and twenty or so chairs distributed across the wooden floor as a community cafe / bar space.

The best part of being a freelancer is having the freedom to set your own schedule. I often tend to work in the afternoons and evenings, which means my weekday mornings are free to do the shopping, fit in some exercise and volunteer at a local community theatre.

This morning, I’m meeting a delivery to restock the theatre bar mid-way through the run of their January show, Farragut North. It’s a beautiful space, with photos from the Christmas production It’s a Wonderful Life on display and posters from previous shows decorating the walls.

I love storytelling in all its forms, so it feels great to be contributing and I’ve booked to see the show on Saturday!
